History - The Penn State Mixed Couples Golf League formed in 2006 with the support of the Penn State Golf Courses Director and his staff. On February 8, 2006, an exploratory meeting between Kathy and James Moore, Joe Hughes and Steve Eskey occurred to discuss the feasibility of forming a league that would invite couples to join a league that would be competitive, yet fun. The determination at this meeting was that a league of this type seemed viable and we should go forward. A committee formed consisting of the Kathy Moore, James Moore, Lennie Slocumb and Ken Slocumb. Members and guests were invited to join through clubhouse postings and the Penn State Golf Courses Newsletter. The number of interested couples and individuals that wanted to be a part of the league was much larger (16 couples) than expected. The Penn State Mixed Couples Golf League commenced on May 19, 2006. The inaugural season was seven official weeks long and was a tremendous success. Many of the members continued to meet after the end of the season and continued to play with new found golfing partners. Mission - Our mission is to meet and enjoy a semi-competitive round of golf with people wishing to do the same, while learning more about the game we love to play.
